SRAM NEWS: SRAM RED 2012

Special Edition Post: This One is for the “Roadies”
New Sram Red Group coming in March!
Listen up road bike riders! I decided to change it up and write one for all the roadies looking for that inside scoop on the much anticipated and soon to be released Sram Red group.  Many of you have been hearing the buzz about the new SRAM RED. Well, here are the facts you need to know about it if you are looking to upgrade from your previous setup.
1)  If you are looking to purchase one or several of 380 new groups being shipped to the US market in March I suggest you stop reading and get on the phone with your local bike shop and get it on order immediately.

2)  New Red 2012 is not entirely cross compatible. To run new Red 2012 you must include: Front Derailleur(FD), XGlide R Cranks(FC) and Shifters(SL)

  • Due to the innovative YAW no trim technology, the front derailleur(FD), shift levers(SL) and  crankset(FC) were designed as a precision shifting system and should be installed and utilized as a SRAM RED 2012 system
  • SRAM does not recommend mixing RED 2012 and RED 2011 FD, SL and FC components. They will not be compatible
  • SRAM RED 2012 FD, SL and FC are not backwards compatible with current SRAM RED 2011 components or other SRAM Road Groups (Force, Rival or Apex)
